The Multi-Specialist

Dave Marthouse

As the late Harry Chapin said, "Life is a circle." For WRSK's Dave Marthouse, this quote could not be truer.

From a young age to now, Dave Marthouse has done it all in the radio industry. From doing spot announcements to IT work for radio over the years, Dave's radio talents extend far beyond being one of WRSK's incredible voices.

Now well into his age, his enthusiasm for radio, which began when he was young, only continues to grow like a fire being constantly fueled.

The Production Man

I am Dave Marthouse, Tony Dee's assistant at WRSK.  I do the weather forecasts on a daily basis plus a variety of other things at the station.

I do what is referred to in the broadcast industry as Production.  That is the spot announcements.  In addition I am responsible for the mixing and mastering of all the stations produced audio content.

Behind the scenes i do the IT for WRSK.

From a very young age I knew I wanted to be in radio broadcasting.  When I was growing up we would visit one of my uncles who was a very keen and enthusiastic builder of electronic kits of all kinds.  When I would visit his workshop he showed me such things like shortwave radios, stereo components and other neat electronics he built.

I was fascinated and that planted the seed.  I knew I wanted to bee one of the voices coming out of those mysterious electronic boxes.

This eventually led me to Seton Hall University where I majored in Communications and Broadcast Journalism.

Where Dave Marthouse is Today

My first commercial radio job was at WSUS in Franklin, where I did afternoon drive and commercial production.  Later, I joined WCTC/WMGQ in New Brunswick, where I did music programs plus various talk shows.

It was at WCTC that I met Tony Dee.  We hit it off immediately do to our mutual love of broadcasting and everything electronic.

After a decade of working at WCTC, I had the opportunity to go into broadcast ownership.  Tony and I bought WODI Radio in Brookneal, Virginia.  We ran that station for almost 14 years.

I am now back in New Jersey, and interestingly enough, I am doing radio in the same market I started in back in the day, almost 5 decades ago.
